Building Chords Using The Major Scale

Now that we have intervals under our belt it’s time to move onto to chord construction. Chords are built in 3rds which is every other note in the scale. The most basic chord is called a triad which has three different notes. There are four basic types of triads…major, minor, diminished and augmented. Here are the formulas of the four basic triads:
